National Day of Prayer to run all Thursday
All day Thursday
National Day of Prayer events start at 6 a.m. with a sunrise prayer at House of Prayer at 311 E. Market St., a midday prayer at 11:45 a.m. at the Lima Civic Center at 7 Town Square and a night prayer event at 6 p.m. at Pangle Pavilion at 128 E. Spring St. in Lima Thursday, May 2.
The West Ohio Christian Chamber of Commerce will host each event.
Free Comic Book Day to return to Alter Ego
10 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday
Alter Ego Comics will participate in Free Comic Book Day from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, May 4.
Anyone interested in checking out the event can go to the store at 230 N. Main St., Lima.
People are encouraged to dress as a superhero or villain and grab photos with the shop’s own cosplayers. There will also be a giveaway for a life-sized Grogu from Star Wars.
Altrusa Club to host Kentucky Derby event
5-8 p.m. Saturday
The Kentucky Derby Festival will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday, May 4 at Whitetail Acres at 2276 W. Breese Road in Lima.
Tickets will include food and one mint julep.
There will also be a raffle, bourbon tasting and horse race picks.

Hooten Hollars to perform at Outskirts
7 p.m. Saturday
Outskirts Brew Co. and Dive will host a show featuring the Hooten Hollars at 7 p.m. Saturday, May 4 at 2412 Cable Court, Lima.
Ohio Theatre to host stand-up show
8 p.m. Saturday
Six comedians from Fort Wayne will perform at the first Stand Up Comedy Night starting at 8 p.m. Saturday, May 4 at the Ohio Theatre in Lima.
Doors will open for the show, which will be on the Stage Door Canteen Cabaret Stage, at 6 p.m.

• Happy Daz Cool Car Cruise In: 5-7:30 p.m. May 1 at Happy Daz 802 S. Cable Road, Lima. The Happy Daz Cool Car Cruise In will start at 5 p.m. Wednesday, May 1 at the Cable Road location in Lima.
The event will feature classic cars, trucks and motorcycles for free admission, as well as door prizes and 50-50 drawings. The event will run every Wednesday from May to September.
• Lima Chamber Annual Awards Gala: 5:30-8:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 1 at UNOH Event Center 1450 N. Cable Road, Lima. The Lima/Allen County Chamber of Commerce will hold its annual awards gala starting at 5:30 p.m. May 1 at the UNOH Event Center.
The event will include dinner and awards to recognize area businesses and leaders. Call 419-222-6045 for reservations or tickets.
• Limaland Motorsports Park Races: 7:30-10:30 p.m. Friday, May 3 at Limaland Motorsports Park 1500 Dutch Hollow Road, Lima. Limaland will begin hosting races every Friday night starting at 7:30 p.m. Gates open at 5 p.m.
