Governor Mike DeWine on Tuesday said that all county fairs in the state will be limited to Junior Fair events only. In the area, this has Auglaize County scrambling. Its fair was set to begin Sunday. Allen County is also working hard to be sure it is ready for its Aug. 21 opening. Fairs will have no games, rides or grandstand events. Harness racing will be allowed but with no spectators. The Wapakoneta school board met Tuesday night, and the board allowed seven people to voice opinions on the Redskins mascot. It has recently come under fire, and people argued for and against changing the name. The board said it has mainly heard from people in favor of keeping the name and has no plans to change it. The City of Lima’s Civil Service Board officially approved a change to the city’s “Rule of 10” Tuesday. This opens up the city’s hiring lists to anyone who is able to score higher than a 70% on civil service-administered tests. Read more.
