100th birthday: Alice Bucher

ADA — Alice E. Bucher is celebrating her 100th birthday with an open house from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. Saturday at Shelter House No. 6 at Ada Park. A card shower would be appreciated at 920 S. Main St., Ada, OH 45810.

She was born Aug. 14, 1916, in Lima, to Harry and Mary Alice (Dinan) Thompson. On Sept. 12, 1936, she married Allen Dale Bucher, who died May 10, 1995.

She has two children, Jim (Pat) Bucher, of Lima, and John (Nancy) Bucher, of Ada. A daughter, Janice Smith, is deceased. She has 10 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, three stepgreat-grandchildren, five great-great-grandchildren and 10 stepgreat-great-grandchildren.

She retired from Triplett Corp., Bluffton. She worked a dispatcher at Ada Police Department. She loved being a den mother with the Boy Scouts. She loves the Ohio State Buckeyes, Cincinnati Reds and Ada Bulldogs. She is a member of First United Methodist Church, Ada.
