Real Wheels: Look out for ‘Lil Jaws’

LIMA – “ He’s baaack.”

Two years ago Randall Oen, 24, of Cridersville showed up at car shows and Halloween parades driving a 1998 Cadillac hearse, which he used to promote his DJ business. He had a lot of fun with that vehicle, until the engine blew up.

But to coin a phrase from the popular Halloween movie, “Friday the 13th 5” – “He’s baaack.”

Oen’s newest creation is “Lil Jaws.” He got the idea from his mother, Deb Oen. With the help of family and friends, he’s turned a 2006 Toyota Scion xA into an asphalt shark.

Lil Jaws features a shark fin across the top, grimacing shark’s teeth along the doors and haunting eyes. The teeth and eyes were the decal work of Scott Bowersock of Wapakoneta. Alaina Osterholt, Dinah Oen and Adam Carver helped decorate the vehicle. His father, Frank Oen, added speakers that play the sound track from the movie “Jaws.”

It’s hard to say who is enjoying Lil Jaws the most – Oen or the people he passes while driving.

“I get all kinds of looks when I stop at a red light or pull up to a stop sign. Little kids will point at the car when I drive by,” Oen said.

What’s next?

“I could be looking at “Jaws 2,” Oen said.

Yes, “He’s baaack.”
