Lima man pleads guilty in drug possession case

LIMA — A Lima man indicted in May on five felony drug charges related to his possession of methamphetamine, cocaine and oxycodone will be sentenced Dec. 2 after entering into a plea agreement with prosecutors.

Jeremy Schneider, 52, was originally indicted on second- and fifth-degree felony counts of aggravated possession of drugs, a second-degree felony charge of possession of a fentanyl-related compound, a third-degree felony count of possession of cocaine and a fifth-degree felony charge of unlawful possession of a dangerous ordnance.

Schneider on Tuesday pleaded guilty to an amended third-degree felony charge for the possession meth in excess of the bulk amount, as well as possession of more than 10 grams of cocaine and an unspecified amount of oxycodone.

A joint recommendation from prosecutors and the defense attorney calls for a prison sentence of four years and 11 months for Schneider. Because that total is less than five years, the Lima man will be eligible to seek a judicial release after serving six months behind bars.

Schneider also agreed to forfeit a .22 caliber pistol and a sawed-off shotgun as part of the plea agreement.

Judge Jeffrey Reed ordered a pre-sentence investigation be prepared prior to sentencing.
