Lima man injured after semi-trucks collide in Darke County

NEW WESTON — A Lima man and a man from New York were taken to the hospital after their semi-trucks collided and overturned at the intersection of U.S. Route 127 and state Route 705 in Darke County at approximately 10:45 p.m. Sunday.

According to a news release from the Darke County Sheriff’s Office, a semi hauling yogurt driven by Azamat Mukumov, 39, of Brooklyn, New York, was traveling westbound on state Route 705. Kristopher Bahner, 25, of Lima, was driving a semi hauling eggs northbound on U.S. Route 127. Mukumov failed to yield to Bahner at the intersection, causing Bahner to strike Mukumov’s trailer. Both semis then overturned.

Bahner had to be mechanically extracted from his semi and was transported to Wayne Healthcare in Greenville with suspected non-life-threatening injuries. Mukumov was also transported to Wayne Healthcare for precautionary measures.
