Victim identified in High Street house fire

LIMA — The victim who died after a house fire at 1014 W. High St. on Wednesday has been identified. The early morning fire resulted in the home needing to be demolished.

According to Lima Fire Chief Jack McDermitt, James Shuler, 64, was the person killed in the fire and the fire was determined to be accidental. The house was owned by Shuler’s son, Jeremy Shuler, who lived next door. James was the only person in the home at the time.

A GoFundMe has been started for Jeremy’s family as their house was also damaged and they lost a van in the fire. The page said there will be a benefit held at a future date. To donate, visit https://tinyurl.com/2xxp5ve5.
