Waynesfield firm to be honored by Auglaize DD board

NEW BREMEN — A Waynesfield company is being honored by the Auglaize County Board of Developmental Disabilities for its record of employing individuals of all abilities.

In celebration of National Disability Employment Awareness Month, the Auglaize County DD board will recognize Buckeye Coating Technology during its monthly meeting scheduled for 6 p.m. Monday, Oct. 21, at 20 E. First St., New Bremen.

According to Renee Kohler, superintendent of the Auglaize County DD board, Buckeye Coating Technology has been in business for more than 20 years as an electro-coating operation. During that time the company has employed people of all abilities, including those with disabilities, people in need of a second chance and members of the Amish community.

“We believe if people have the desire to work, we are going to find a space and a place for them,” said Hailey Dungan, office manager at Buckeye Coating Technology. “We believe that people with varied abilities bring a unique perspective to the workplace, and they can really change the environment to be more positive.”

Buckeye Coating employs two individuals supported by Auglaize DD and several people served by the Allen County Board of Developmental Disabilities.

“We are excited to show our appreciation for Buckeye Coating Technology,” Kohler said. “They are truly intentional in their employment of people of varying abilities. We join them in their beliefs that all perspectives are valued, including those of individuals with disabilities. We believe communities benefit when businesses, such as Buckeye Coating Technology, think inclusively when hiring and share their success stories.”

Kohler said Auglaize DD serves more than 400 eligible children and adults in Auglaize County through a wide range of programs, supports and services
