Lima man dead after Interstate 75 crash

DUCHOUQUET TOWNSHIP — A Lima man is dead after a crash involving three vehicles on Interstate 75 northbound near the Auglaize County rest area in between Wapakoneta and Cridersville around 5 p.m. Tuesday.

According to a news release from the Ohio State Highway Patrol, Bailey Luckett, 24, of Lima, was traveling northbound in a Kia Soul when she stopped on the roadway in front of a semi-truck driven by Jesus Perez, 50, of Hazleton, Pennsylvania, forcing him to stop. Luckett exited her vehicle and confronted Perez, and a Chrysler Pacifica driven by David Shutt, 44, of Lima, rear-ended the semi. Luckett then fled the scene and was located later.

Luckett and Perez were not injured. Shutt was pronounced dead on the scene. Shutt was not wearing a seat belt.

The release said the Auglaize County Prosecutor’s Office responded to the crash. The Ohio State Highway Patrol couldn’t confirm why Luckett stopped in the roadway because the incident is still under investigation. The prosecutor’s office had no information on whether Luckett would be charged.
