No injuries after possible electrical fire at Plastipak

BATH TOWNSHIP — No injuries were reported after a possible electrical fire around 8 a.m. Tuesday at Plastipak Packaging, located at 435 Roush Road in Lima.

According to a news release from Bath Township Fire Chief Joseph Kitchen, first responders observed heavy smoke and fire coming from the rear of the building in an area where electric power comes into the facility.

All employees were evacuated prior to the firefighters’ arrival. The fire was under control in about 15 minutes. American Electric Power disconnected power to the building.

An exact damage estimate is pending an investigation by Plastipak officials. The cause of the fire was not determined but fire department investigators believed it was electrical.
