Man pleads not guilty to burglary, assault, drug charges

LIMA — A Lima man pleaded not guilty Friday during Allen County Common Pleas Court arraignments after being indicted on aggravated burglary, felonious assault, domestic violence, strangulation, having weapons under disability, possession of cocaine and possession of marijuana.

Court documents said on July 30 officers responded to a domestic violence incident involving Steven Plaugher, 44, and his son after Plaugher came to his son’s house for guns he left there. After an argument started, Plaugher allegedly struck his son in the back with a gun, choked him and body-slammed him on the floor. Plaugher left the residence and was found at his home at 641 N. Union St. where he was arrested.

After Plaugher’s arrest, detectives obtained a search warrant for Plaugher’s house and found 10 firearms, cocaine and marijuana. Plaugher’s indictment has a major drug offender specification attached and describes the amount of cocaine found as at least 100 grams. The amount of marijuana was between 1,000 and 5,000 grams.

Plaugher’s bond is set at $500,000. A pretrial has been scheduled for Sept. 27.
