Wapakoneta man injured in Auglaize County crash

PUSHETA TOWNSHIP — A Wapakoneta man required a medical helicopter transport following a two-vehicle accident in Auglaize County on Wednesday.

The crash took place at 12:12 p.m. Wednesday on county Road 25A, near Leon Pratt Drive, according to the Ohio State Highway Parol’s Wapakoneta post.

Jon P. Bair, 57, of Minster, drove a 2021 Freightliner Cascadia left out of a private drive onto county Road 25A southbound. Brett W. Eley, 38, of Wapakoneta, drove a 2010 GMC Yukon northbound on County Road 25A. According to the patrol, the preliminary investigation indicated Eley’s GMC struck Bair’s Freightliner.

Eley suffered injuries, with CareFlight transporting him to Miami Valley Hospital. Bair was not injured. Both men wore safety belts at the time of the crash, which remains under investigation.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol Crash Reconstruction Unit, Wapakoneta Fire Department, Wapakoneta Police Department and Auglaize County CERT also responded to the crash.
