VAN WERT — A new restaurant in Van Wert is striving to be different.
Double A’s Dining celebrated its grand opening on Friday, Aug. 30. Located at 1103 S. Shannon St., Van Wert, the restaurant is co-owned by Stacia Burgoon and Paul Palmeter.
“We’re in this for the long haul,” Burgoon said. Both owners currently manage multiple full-time jobs.
The restaurant is known for its steaks and offers steakburgers, pork chops, chicken wings and homemade desserts.

The restaurant is open 4 to 9 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays; 4 to 10 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays and 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Sundays.
The building, which has served as many restaurants in the past and most recently as the Black Angus Steakhouse, has a bright future.
“We have started remodeling the floor on one side and are hopeful of getting new hand-made booths and tables with our logos on them,” Palmeter said.
They also plan to build a new waitress station and acquire a sign to place outside.
In terms of business, expectations have been met.
“Business has been good, especially on the weekends. It can be slow earlier in the week, but it speeds up as the week goes on,” Burgoon said.
As football season gets into full swing, Double A’s could be the place to go on Sundays, as it offers NFL Sunday Ticket, Palmeter said.
“I like to be different. I like to see what others have and be different. There are things here that you can’t or won’t find anywhere else around here,” Palmeter said.
Palmeter also hinted at the different types of alcohol that will be available once the restaurant obtains its liquor license.
“It will be the perfect place to come and enjoy food, a beer (or whatever you like) and enjoy the game. We have all the streaming services to watch any sport,” he said.
According to the owners, Double A’s is the only true steakhouse in Van Wert. This brings confidence that they can stand out.
“Our customer service and our food will carry us,” Palmeter said.
Both owners mentioned the possibility of a steak challenge and various ideas for Sunday specials.
Burgoon stressed the future importance of a website for take-out orders, public service announcements and advertising.
As they navigate their first months and prepare to introduce new features and services, Double A’s Dining hopes to build a loyal customer base and become a cornerstone of Van Wert’s dining landscape.
