Moreno, Trump Jr. to hold rally in Lima

LIMA — The Allen County Republican Party announced Tuesday that U.S. Senate candidate Bernie Moreno and Donald Trump Jr. will make a campaign stop in Lima at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 10 at the Allen County Republican Victory Center located next to Planet Fitness at the Clock Tower Plaza, 927 N. Cable Road, Lima.

The rally will be part of a series of stops for Moreno and Trump in western Ohio as they continue to make the pitch to Ohio residents to send the Cleveland-area businessman to the Senate in place of Sen. Sherrod Brown, D-Ohio.

“This United State Senate, obviously, is basically split 50-50,” Allen County Republican Party Chairman Keith Cheney said at Tuesday’s announcement. “The importance of the Ohio Senate seat to become Republican has been noted throughout the national media and throughout the United States Senate itself. Currently, we are represented by an individual who has supported the Biden-Harris agenda 98 percent of the time, and it’s time for a change in Washington, D.C. Bernie Moreno is the change that will be positive and represent Ohioans for our beliefs, not what the liberal beliefs are throughout some of the United States.”

This is not Trump’s first visit to Lima, having held events here in the 2018 midterm and 2020 presidential campaigns.

“Fortunately, we have a pretty good record here in Allen County of hosting some great events,” Cheney said. “Don Jr. has been in Allen County before and we’ve become pretty good friends over the years, and he just wants to come back to Lima and support Bernie.”

The rally will be a ticketed event, and while tickets to the event are free, they are limited and must be picked up in person starting Wednesday at the Republican Victory Center. The center is open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday.
