Lima man pleads guilty to reduced robbery charge

LIMA — A Lima man pleaded guilty Tuesday in Allen County Common Pleas Court to a third-degree felony charge of robbery, which was reduced from the second-degree robbery charge in his indictment.

A pre-sentence investigation will be done on Braylon Rogan, 18, before his sentencing on Oct. 4. Judge Terri Kohlrieser could sentence Rogan to nine to 36 months in prison or probation, since the charge doesn’t carry a mandatory prison sentence.

Court documents detail the incident that occurred on May 27. Rogan went into a store wearing a brown ski mask. He put two bottles of vodka in his pocket valued at $8.78 each. When an employee told him to take them out of his pocket, he told the employee to get away from him or he was going to “pop” them. A physical altercation occurred between the employee and Rogan. Rogan then dropped the alcohol and fled from the store.

Officers identified Rogan in the store’s surveillance footage and had previous encounters with him. Rogan told officers he was going to sell the alcohol to make money and didn’t have a gun on him, although he said he was going to “pop” the employees.
