July unemployment rates down

LIMA — Area counties saw their unemployment rates descended in July, according to the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services.

In Allen County, the unemployment rate dropped to 5.0% from 5.6%. There were 300 fewer unemployed in July than in June.

Auglaize County saw a major dip in unemployment. What was 6.8% in June is now 3.8%. The labor force shrunk by 300, but the county gained 500 employees.

Hardin County maintained an employed population of 12,400. The labor force shrunk by 1,000. The unemployment rate in June was 6.3% and now stands at 5.7%.

In Putnam County, the labor force went from 19,900 to 19,700, and the unemployment total remained consistent at 700. The unemployment rate narrowly dropped from 3.7% to 3.6%.

Van Wert County kept with the trend and saw a drop in unemployment. The rate went from 4.8% to 4.0%. 100 fewer people were unemployed.
