Lima woman sentenced to probation for assault

LIMA — A Lima woman was sentenced to three years of probation Monday in the Allen County Common Pleas Court on a charge of felonious assault.

The firearm specification included in the charge for Grace Barr, 27, was dismissed. Barr must also complete 80 hours of community service by the end of the year. Barr had nothing on her record before this charge besides a disorderly conduct incident.

Court documents said the charge came from an incident on April 14 when she shot her boyfriend in the finger. The bullet then lodged into his left thigh.

The courtroom was halfway full with family, friends and coworkers supporting her. Barr said being in jail taught her to think before she acts. When Judge Jeffrey Reed was sentencing Barr, he said she should have left and not gotten the gun out of the car and went back to the situation. He said there’s “too much gun violence.”
