Kansas in Concert

The rock band Kansas will perform at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Aug. 9 at the Veterans Memorial Civic and Convention Center at 7 Town Square in Lima.
The band known for “Carry On Wayward Fan” and “Dust in the Wind” will bring its tour to Lima.

Mainstreet Delphos Music Fest
4:30-11 p.m. Friday and noon-11 p.m. Saturday
That Arena Rock Show will headline the Mainstreet Delphos Music Fest starting at 4:30 p.m. Friday, Aug. 9 and at noon Saturday, Aug. 10 on N. Main St. in Delphos.
Fairly Local and the LintStones will also perform.

Kids Fest
10 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday
Go Ottawa will hold Kids Fest from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 10 at Memorial Park at 730 N. Locust St. in Ottawa.
The free event will connect kids to business, programs and organizations offered in the community with hands-on activities, as well as touch-a-truck, a bounce house, a chalk art contest and a football pass game.
There will also be hot dogs and performances by the Ottawa-Glandorf marching band, The Dance Center and the Putnam County Children’s Theater.
Anyone can park at the Ottawa Pool.
Perseid Meteor Shower at Kendrick Woods
9 p.m. Saturday
Astronomy enthusiasts will want to gather Saturday evening at Kendrick Woods, 971 N. Defiance Trail, Lima, to catch a glimpse of the annual Perseid meteor shower.
Members of the Lima Astronomical Society will be on hand with telescopes to help attendees get a great view of the event. Attendees are asked to bring lawn chairs and bug spray, and the event will be dependent on weather conditions and cloud cover. Updates on the event will be posted on the Lima Astronomical Society Facebook page. For more information or to register, call 419-221-1232. Attendees must register to attend by Friday.
Allen County Fair Parade
2 p.m. Sunday
It is that time of year yet again with the Allen County Fair Parade returning Sunday to downtown Lima. The parade will run along Main Street from Robb Avenue to Spring Street, with plenty of amazing parade entries and candy in abundance for the kids.

• Gnocchi Cooking Class: 6-8 p.m. Thursday at Sycamore Lake Winery, 9660 Mayberry Road, Columbus Grove.

• Lima Land Poetry Slam: 7:30 p.m. Friday at Vibe Coffeehouse and Cafe, 311 E. Market St., Lima.
Any rappers, poets, musicians and singers are welcome to attend and show off their talents at this family-focused event.
• Spongebob the Musical: 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 2 p.m Sunday at Encore Theatre, 991 N. Shore Drive, Lima.
The adaption of the Broadway musical will bring Bikini Bottom to Lima with a soundtrack featuring dozens of popular hits and all Spongebob characters.
