Minster tops standings at Rob Contini Memorial Invitational

HARROD — Minster owned the day at the eight-team Rob Contini Memorial Golf Invitational at Colonial Golfers Club on Thursday morning.

The Wildcats compiled a team score of 324 to come out on top of the field paced by Luis Magoto (76) and Bryce Prenger (78). Reese Beair (84) and Andrew Wiss (86) also scored.

Shawnee (330) finished in second place, followed by St. Henry (331), Parkway (341), Bath (374), Elida (394), Allen East (419) and LCC (426).

Mathew Stiles of Shawnee was the match medalist after turning in a score of 74, followed by Magoto’s 76 and Parkway’s Eli Schumm who carded a 77.

Along with Stiles, Shawnee’s scorers were Ashton Wright (81), Brandt McGreevy (86) and Bronson Metzger (89).

Fifth-place Bath got an 81 from Connor Rains and an 89 from Kaden Hall followed by Karson Green’s 93 and a 110 from Jacob Lee.

Elida, who played shorthanded on Thursday with just four golfers, received solid showings from seniors Aiden Musil (93) and Keagon Bullock (95). Tobin Armspoker (102) and Ryan Sheidler (104) completed the team scoring.

“We have five of our six players back, and last year was really most of our kids’ first time golfing,” said Elida coach Jason Selhost. “We weren’t really expecting a lot today with two of our top kids on vacation. We knew it would be a grind but I’m hoping we can learn from these first couple of days.”

Scorers for Allen East included Levi Clum, who tied for fourth place individually with 78, along with Hunter Williams (101), Reese Parker (113) and Eli Franklin (127).

LCC’s group of four freshmen and two sophomores was led by freshman Parker Bates with a 96. Nick Nieman (102), Nate Warner (108) and Bractyn Jones (120) completed the scoring.
