LIMA — A Lima man has been arrested in Las Vegas, Nevada, after almost two years on the run following a vehicle pursuit and home invasion.
Allen County Sheriff Matthew Treglia said in a news conference Thursday that Leroy Page, 34, is being held by the Clark County Detention Center in Nevada awaiting extradition. He was apprehended by the FBI Las Vegas Criminal Apprehension Unit on Wednesday.
FBI Special Agent Brian Russ worked on the case and served more than 170 subpoenas, court orders and search warrants before finding Page. Investigators believed he could have been in Washington and Detroit before finding him in Las Vegas.
Treglia said the way they finally found Page was through his cellphone usage.
“If you plan on hiding, you probably shouldn’t plan on ever using a phone again in your entire life,” Treglia said.
According to a news release from the Allen County Sheriff’s Office in October 2022, Page was involved in a vehicle pursuit with the Lima Police Department when he crashed the vehicle near the intersection of West Elm Street and Fraunfelter Road. He fled the scene and forced his way into a residence on Fraunfelter Road where he “continuously assaulted” the homeowners for about two hours before forcing the residents to drive him to the intersection of Yoakam Road and West Breese Road. Page then fled the area.
Page was indicted by an Allen County grand jury in January 2023 on charges of kidnapping, aggravated burglary, felonious assault, having weapons while under disability and improper handling of a firearm.
Treglia confirmed the incident in 2022 was the first time his department had ever dealt with Page.
