Smith to headline Auglaize County Fair

WAPAKONETA —The Auglaize County Fair will have a full schedule of events featuring entertainment, arts, food, animals, pageants, rides and competitions starting this weekend, but the big show will be the final day featuring country singer Connor Smith.

Tickets cost $10 for general admission, but children age 9 and under are free. Tickets include all free entertainment, gospel tent and grandstand events, aside from the Saturday concert. A season pass is $40.

Chicketti Family Amusements will offer rides from 1 to 11 p.m. Sunday, Tuesday and Saturday and from 4 to 11 p.m. Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. Ride bands are $16 presale by Saturday or $20 per day with a $2 processing fee during the week.

Opening day will start with the Ohio Western Horse Show at 9 a.m. Sunday, leading to a ribbon-cutting ceremony at the front gate starting at noon.

The day will also see a steer and calf show at 2 p.m., hay bale judging at 3 at the fair office, the Auglaize County Equine Queen/Princess Competition at 3 p.m. in the Horse Arena, a cheerleading competition at 4 p.m. at the free grandstands, a pie and cake auction at 5 p.m., a horseshoe pitch tournament at 6 p.m., Ladies Night Out at 5:30 p.m. in the entertainment tent and Jim and Melissa Brady with Michael Booth at 7 p.m. in the gospel tent.

Monday will be Senior Day and will feature wiener dog races at 6 p.m. in the grandstands, the Auglaize County Pork Producers Show at 5 p.m., the Junior Fair King and Queen Coronation at 6 p.m. in the gospel tent, a kiddie tractor pull at 7 p.m. in the grandstands, the district 12 Holstein show at in Piehl Arena, The Perry’s at 7 p.m. in the gospel tent and Worship Anyway at 7 p.m. in the entertainment tent.

Kids Day will be Tuesday, featuring a beekeeping presentation at 6 p.m. in the junior fair building, harness racing at 6 p.m. in the grandstands, the Kingsman Quartet at 7 p.m. in the gospel tent, Singo at 7 p.m. in the entertainment tent and the Chicken, Sheep, Pig and Calf Scramble at 8 p.m. in the Make up Arena.

Harness racing will start at 6 p.m. Wednesday at the free grandstands with a moonwalk pace, followed by a floral show, baking contests, and wine and beer judging at 7 p.m. in the horticulture building. High Road will perform at 7 p.m. in the gospel tent, and the T-102 Country Star Playoffs will start at the same time in the entertainment tent.

Veterans Day on Thursday will offer the goat showmanship show at 3 p.m. in Piehl Arena, the horseshoe pitch tournament at 6 p.m., the veterans day program at 6 p.m., Anthem Edition at 7 p.m. in the gospel tent, the demolition derby at 7:30 p.m. in the grandstands and music by Brother Believe Me at 8 p.m. in the entertainment tent.

The Born and Raised Market Goat show will start at 6 p.m. Friday, Aug. 2 and will be followed by the Jackpot Market Lamb Show at 6:45 p.m., A-Bar Rodeo Productions at 7 p.m. in the grandstands, Legacy Five at 7 p.m. in the gospel tent and Another Round at 8 p.m. in the entertainment tent.

There will also be a cornhole tournament at noon in the entertainment tent, a 4-H woodcarver auction at 4 p.m. in the grandstands, Soul’d Out at 4 p.m. in the gospel tent with kids square dancing to follow. 127 North will perform twice, at 7 p.m. to open for Smith and at 10 to close the entertainment tent.
