Swift to shine on at amphitheater

LIMA — It will not be Taylor herself, but Taylor Shines: The Laser Spectacular promises to bring the next best thing to the Greater Lima Region Park and Amphitheater, 128 E. Spring St., this Friday — with a light show to go with it.

Steve Monistere, producer for the show featuring music by Taylor Swift, said he is looking forward to seeing the range of fans at the show.

“It’s a lot of fun,” he said. “I’ve seen moms with their six- to eight-year-old girls, teenagers and adults in their 20s and 30s. What really surprised me when I started doing this was how much the older people enjoyed themselves, knowing the words to every song from start to finish.”

For families that may not be able to go to a concert on The Eras Tour, Monistere said the show will provide a unique experience.

“She’s the biggest pop star and people can’t get enough of her music,” he said. “Our female talent, DJ Jexxa, looks the part, dances the part, acts the part and does a lot of things that you’ll see at the concert like passing out the charm bracelets. We don’t have the billion-dollar production, but we have lasers and a large screen video projection with lights and concert sound.”

The credentials of “The Second Best Taylor Swift Event on the Planet”, made possible by Supreme Entertainment for Paramount, speak for themselves.

“We’re one of the premier companies in the country for laser shows,” Monistere said. “I produced the Pink Floyd Laser Spectacular which has been around forever and is highly successful so the lasers are a great part of the show.”

Monistere said it is gratifying to produce the show for fans who might not get the chance to see their favorite artist in concert.

“I like going to the shows to see everyone enjoy themselves, especially when they’re younger because they don’t know what the concerts are like,” he said. “Being able to watch everybody enjoy themselves and appreciate our efforts means a lot because a lot of work goes into it. We take great care to program our lasers, lights and videos to tell the story and it’s just a lot of fun.”

The most important thing is they get a taste of the real thing.

“We would hope we put something together to give them a real taste of what it’s like to go to a Taylor Swift concert,” Monistere said. “They get on their social media platforms and post pictures of the show to talk about it so we think they do.”

The only advice Monistere would have is simple: bring a lozenge.

“They’re going to be yelling and singing.”
