Ada included in new round of Rite Aid closures

ADA — The closures of Rite Aid pharmacies in the region keep adding up.

According to a notice filed Friday in the United States Bankruptcy Court District of New Jersey, 30 Rite Aid locations in Ohio and Michigan have been added to the list of closures. While previous closure announcements have included stores in Lima and St. Marys, Friday’s announcement added a new community impacted by the pharmacy’s Chapter 11 bankruptcy reorganization.

The Ada Rite Aid pharmacy at 610 S. Main St. has been slated to close, according to the filing. Other Ohio communities included in the new closure list are Mansfield, which has two locations listed, New Carlisle, Toledo, Dayton, Cleveland, Enon and Genoa.

No additional Lima locations were included in the new list filed Friday. Of the five Rite Aid pharmacies in Lima, 1415 Bellefontaine Ave. and 506 W. Market St. are the only two that have not been confirmed in court documents or any corporate announcement to be closing. The other locations are on Robb Avenue, Elm Street and Shawnee Road, and signage on the Robb Avenue and Elm Street locations have said that prescriptions at those pharmacies will be transferred to Walgreens.

The closure at the St. Marys location at 1502 Executive Drive was announced in mid-June.

The closures have not yet been included on Rite Aid’s website, with 142 locations in Ohio still being listed.
