18 departments respond to Resource Recycling mulch fire

BATH TOWNSHIP — A mulch fire at Resource Recycling, 1596 Neubrecht Road, Lima, could keep burning for the next few days.

The Bath Township Fire Department was first to respond to it at 3:18 p.m. Sunday. A total of 18 departments from four counties came out to help, according to a statement from Bath Township Fire Chief Joe Kitchen.

Upon arrival, initial Bath Township responders found a significant fire in progress, extending from the mulch to cut trees, brush and large industrial crane mats/pallets.

Firefighters worked until 4:30 a.m. Monday to contain the fire and are still collaborating with Resource Recycling to maintain control.

The cause of the fire is under investigation, and no injuries were reported.
