Lima man arrested after shooting

LIMA — A 20-year-old Lima man is in custody after a shooting that caused critical injuries, according to a press release from the Allen County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies responded to the 2000 block of North West Street at approximately 9:31 a.m. Wednesday. They found a victim with two gunshot wounds. American Township EMS transferred the victim to Mercy Health-St. Rita’s Medical Center. The victim, who the sheriff’s office did not identify, had injuries that were “critical but considered non-life threatening,” according to the sheriff’s office.

The suspect, Jeremiah Washington, 20, of Lima, fled the scene but was taken into custody “a short while later.” Washington is being held at the Allen County Jail on felonious assault charges.

The case remains under investigation by the Allen County Sheriff’s Office.
