Bluffton woman injured in two-vehicle collision

BATH TOWNSHIP — A Bluffton woman was transported to Mercy Health-St. Rita’s Medical Center with minor injuries following a two-vehicle accident Tuesday.

According to a spokesperson with the Lima post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol, a vehicle driven by Brian Owen, 40, of Leon, West Virginia, was traveling southbound on Thayer Road at approximately 2:15 p.m. Tuesday and failed to stop at the intersection of North Dixie Highway.

Owen’s vehicle struck a Ford Maverick driven by Laverne Newland, 73, of Bluffton, which was traveling north on Dixie Highway. Newland had to be extracted from her vehicle by mechanical means before she was transported to the hospital.

Owen was cited for failure to stop at a marked intersection.
