High school principal among positions filled at Shawnee

SHAWNEE TOWNSHIP — James Morris has been named as principal at Shawnee High School, according to a press release issued Wednesday by the school district. His hiring was one of several leadership changes approved at the June meeting of the district’s board of education.

Morris has been employed at Shawnee since 2012 and has more than 20 years of experience in education, including roles in special education and as an assistant principal.

Morris earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Special Education from Wright State University and his Master of Educational Administration and Supervision degree from Bowling Green State University.

“It’s an honor to be selected as the Shawnee High School principal,” Morris said in a prepared statement. “Our community and tradition of excellence at Shawnee inspire me to find the best ways to serve the families who make up the Shawnee community. I look forward to working with our new superintendent and being a member of his leadership team.”

Brock Howe will replace Morris as assistant high school principal. Howe previously served as the junior high and high school assistant principal at Wayne Trace schools in Paulding County.

In other transactions, Michelle Knippen was named director of special services, replacing Jennie Hefner. Dylan Dronberger was named the director of development and assessment, replacing Amber Straub, who has retired after more than 35 years of service to Shawnee schools.

Earlier this year Josh Inglis was named as principal at Maplewood Intermediate School, replacing Michele Roberts. Inglis has more than 20 years of experience at Lima schools.

“The Shawnee community and our students will continue to be well-served as we build a robust leadership team in our schools,” Shawnee superintendent Don Diglia said.
