WAPAKONETA — A Waynesfield woman was sentenced to four to six years in prison Wednesday in the Auglaize County Common Pleas Court for felonious assault.
Janine Little, 59, pleaded guilty to the assault charge, a second-degree felony, during a prior change-of-plea hearing. Prosecutors agreed to dismiss an attempted murder charge in exchange for Little’s plea.
Little initially pleaded not guilty to the charges and later amended her pleas to not guilty by reason of insanity. She was found competent to stand trial following a psychiatric evaluation performed at the Dayton-based Forensic Psychiatry Center for Western Ohio.
Little was taken into custody by Auglaize County deputies following a Jan. 22 incident at 17494 Smith Road, east of Waynesfield. Deputies had responded to an apparent domestic dispute report and upon arrival found Andrew Little, 56, suffering from a “severe laceration,” according to the initial report. Janine Little was also in the residence suffering from lacerations to the throat, hand and stomach.
