Lima men charged in federal postal probe

TOLEDO — Three men have been indicted by a federal grand jury on charges related to the tampering of mail and the theft of keys used by the U.S. Postal Service.

Ahmir Curtis, 23, Zenesto Martin Jr., 25, and Christian Proby, 25, all of Lima, are charged with interference of commerce by robbery, robbery of mail, money, or other property of the United States, and stealing keys used by the postal service for the deposit of mail.

The violations allegedly took place last November in Lima while a USPS letter carrier was on a delivery route.

Curtis and Martin were also indicted for one count of mail theft.

The investigation preceding the indictment was a collaborative effort by the United States Postal Inspection Service and the Oregon (Ohio) Police Department, according to a spokesperson for the U.S. Department of Justice.

The case is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Frank H. Spryszak.
