Mail delivery will be delayed

Subscribers of The Lima News who receive their midweek newspapers via the U.S. Postal Service will not receive them until Thursday this week.

The postal service won’t deliver mail Wednesday due to the Juneteenth federal holiday.

Readers with an independent contractor delivering their newspapers should receive their newspapers Wednesday, and newspapers will be available for sale at regular single-copy locations Wednesday. All subscribers can see the e-edition at LimaOhio.com/eedition by using their online password.

Juneteenth marks the date on June 19, 1865, when Union troops freed the last enslaved people in Galveston Bay, Texas, nearly two and a half years after President Abraham Lincoln signed the Emancipation Proclamation. The holiday celebrates the end of slavery in the United States.
