Snyder named Violet Meek Town & Gown Award winner

LIMA — Former dean and professor emeritus Dr. John R. Snyder is the recipient of The Ohio State University-Lima’s Violet I. Meek Town and Gown award for promoting civics in education.

Snyder taught for the Department of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences before his retirement.

Snyder held a variety of leadership roles in Allen County, including executive director of community health coalition Activate Allen County and trustee for Mercy Health-St. Rita’s Medical Center.

He co-authored more than 75 academic journal articles and dozens of book chapters, edited the textbook Management in Laboratory Medicine, led CDC-funded grants and served internationally for public health initiatives like Project HOPE in Haiti and the President’s Plan for AIDS Relief in Africa.
