Roundup: Elida earns overtime win

Elida 69, New Bremen 67, 2oT

ELIDA — Elida hit five free throws and a 3-pointer in the second overtime to win a nonconference game Friday against New Bremen.

David Etzkorn led the Bulldogs (7-1) with 20 points. Seth Sharp tallied 16 points. A’mari Wash added 11 points, and Jackson Covault scored 10.

New Bremen (2-5) looked to Jackson Lennartz for 17 points, Aaron Thieman for 14, Keaton Puthoff for 13 and Rogan Muether for 10.

Fort Jennings 56, Temple Christian 51

LIMA — Fort Jennings pulled away from a tie game in the fourth quarter to put Temple Christian away.

Bryce Gasser had 20 points, including six in the first and fourth quarters, for the Musketeers (3-6). Adam Hoersten had five of his 15 points in the final stanza, and Calvin Menke scored seven of his 13 in the fourth quarter.

The Pioneers (4-4) received 14 points apiece from Dawson Clay and Derek Shultz. Alex Patrick scored 11.

Van Wert 60, Columbus Grove 51

VAN WERT — Van Wert used a 21-8 advantage in the second quarter to pull ahead and never relented at home.

Conner Campbell scored 19 points for the Cougars (2-6). Kaden Shaffer added 13 points.

Landon Best led Columbus Grove (3-1) with 20 points.

Bluffton 73, Cory-Rawson 51

BLUFFTON — Terron Boblitt scored 19 points, including five 3-pointers, as Bluffton won at the Bluffton McDonald’s Holiday Tournament.

John-Paul Yoder added 13 points, and Brody Sommers had 10 for the Pirates (5-1). Bluffton jumped out to a 19-6 lead in the first quarter and had a nine-point scoring edge in the third quarter.

Cory-Rawson (1-5) got 14 points apiece from Wilson Garmatter and Carson Reese, while Preston Stumpp scored 10.

The Pirates face Arlington in the championship game at 6:15 p.m. Saturday, while the Hornets play in the consolation game against Continental at 5 p.m.

Arlington 77, Continental 41

BLUFFTON — Jase Vermillion hit for 15 points as Arlington won its opener at the McDonald’s Holiday Tournament.

Brady Griggs (14) and Brady Kin (12) also hit double-figures for the Red Devils (6-3).

Continental (0-8) looked to Brady Thomsen for nine points.

The Red Devils face Bluffton in the championship game at 6:15 p.m. Saturday, while the Pirates play in the consolation game against Cory-Rawson at 5 p.m.

Upper Scioto Valley 46, Ridgemont 44

MOUNT VICTORY — Upper Scioto Valley rallied back from a one-point deficit entering the fourth quarter to win at Ridgemont.

Alex Sanders had 16 points for USV (3-5, 2-0 Northwest Central Conference).

Kolton Manns led Ridgemont (4-4, 1-1 NWCC) with 18 points, while Xavier Stuck scored 11.

Miller City 59, Tinora 48

DEFIANCE — Miller City jumped out to a 11-point lead at the half.

Brendan Barlage led Miller City (7-2) with 14 points. Andon Ruhe added 12, and Silas Niese had 11.

Tinora (1-6) looked to Aiden Rittenhouse for 11 points and Ackerman for 10.

Lincolnview 56, Kalida 49

KALIDA — Lincolnview outscored Kalida 28-21 in the second half to pull away from a halftime tie.

Cal Evans paced the Lancers (3-4) with 29 points.

Kalida (0-9) received 12-point nights from Jackson Schroeder and Jacob Siebeneck. Jaxon Hoffman added 10 points.

Findlay 82, Lima Senior 59

FINDLAY — Lima Senior fell to 3-4 after losing to the undefeated Trojans (7-0) on the road.

Pandora-Gilboa 53, Patrick Henry 29

HAMLER — Pandora-Gilboa improved to 8-0 with a win on the road.

The Rockets got off to a 17-6 start and never let up.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Leipsic 49, Delta 38

SWANTON — Leipsic held Delta to just four points in the second quarter to pull ahead and eventually win at a holiday tournament.

Ava Henry scored 23 points for Leipsic (5-4), which hit 17 of 24 free throws and outrebounded Delta 34-18. Jazelle Perez added 15 points.

No Delta player scored more than eight points.
