Lima receives new updates to media equipment

LIMA — The city of Lima is getting an update on its media equipment. For over 25 years, the city has utilized the same monitors and sound system for their GTV-Lima Channel. Public Information Officer Jessica Begonia announced the update at the mayor’s press conference. In addition to new equipment, the channel will feature new coverage of the mayor visiting different departments.

“Our GTV Channel broadcast and video equipment has reached its end of life, to say the least,” Begonia said. “We will be replacing that equipment, allowing us to upgrade so our viewers can have a more enjoyable experience and also improve ADA accessibility for those who are attending council meetings and maybe have hearing impairments.”

Begonia also said the broadcast will be down from Monday, Dec. 4 until Monday, Dec. 11.

“We’ve got some new content that we’re developing, where the mayor is actually going to go behind the scenes at some of our city departments,” Begonia said. “The mayor went and job shadowed with our utilities department — we are also going to have some episodes coming out from the police and fire department.”

Begonia also said the funding for the new equipment will come from the general fund.
