Kohli death ruled suicide

SHAWNEE TOWNSHIP — The Lucas County Coroner has ruled that 21-year-old Zachary Kohli, who was found dead inside a Mahoning Drive residence in May, died by suicide, according to a press release from the Shawnee Township Police Department.

Officers from the Shawnee Township Police Department were called to 212 Mahoning Drive around 2 a.m. May 19 in reference to an unresponsive male, later identified as Kohli, who was found deceased in his bedroom from an apparent gunshot wound.

Police opened a criminal investigation into Kohli’s death and a parallel investigation by the West Central Ohio Crime Task Force after officers observed a large quantity of drug evidence while responding to the call, resulting in the arrest of Michael A. Miller, 21, a resident of the Mahoning Drive address.

While the investigation into Kohli’s death is now complete, Shawnee Township Police said in the release that other criminal matters associated with the investigation are pending.
