LIMA — Lima Mayor Sharetta Smith added two new members to her administrative staff Wednesday, both of whom are bringing with them experience in the public and private sectors.
Smith appointed Shane Coleman as the chief of staff and Sheena Conley as the deputy finance director. Both were sworn in by city law director Tony Geiger to officially step into their new assignments.
Shane Coleman previously served as the safety service director for the City of Delphos and the executive director of the Lima/Allen County Regional Planning Commission. Following being officially sworn in as the new Chief of Staff, Coleman thanked Smith for the new opportunity.
“I want to thank the mayor for her trust in me,” said Coleman. “I have gotten to know her for the past two-plus years through various projects that we have worked on and interactions that we have had. I can tell you that I am truly excited to be working with and for her. I met with her yesterday and when I left her office I felt pretty fired up. It is nice to work with someone who has such passion, knowledge and a vision for the future that she has set for Lima. There are a lot of great things going on here and I look forward to being a part of that. I am also excited to get to know and learn from the current staff. It will take some time but I truly believe that local government is a community affair. It will take all of us and I look forward to being a part of that so thank you very much.”
Before obtaining her new position, Conley worked at the Dayton state auditor’s office, as the senior finance analyst for Marathon Petroleum Corporation and the accounts receivable manager for Bon Secours Mercy Health. Conley also shared her gratitude.
“I am very excited to get back into the finance world,” said Conley. “I look forward to working on the budget and different areas of the finance department. I am excited to work with everyone and learn from the director.”
Smith weighed in on the new team members and her vision for the City.
“I’m thrilled to select Shane Coleman and Sheena Conley to join my administrative team,” said Smith. “As I have looked to build a team that will help move our city forward, it has been my goal to attract the smartest and most talented staff. We are at a pivotal moment in our city’s history and we need experienced, knowledgeable, and skilled leadership. I am confident Mr. Coleman and Mrs. Conley will be a great addition to the team as we work day in and day out to improve the quality of life of the Lima citizens.”
