City of Lima releases street resurfacing schedule

LIMA — The City of Lima plans to resurface various streets starting from Monday, Aug. 8 to Friday, Aug. 19. According to the city engineer’s office, the Shelly Co. will post ‘no parking’ signs in advance of the paving and milling work. The dates could change due to the weather.

The City of Lima plans to pave the new roadways as follows:

  • West Murphy Street from North Baxter Street to North West Street starting Aug. 8.
  • North Central Avenue from East Murphy Street to Flanders Avenue starting Aug. 8 to Aug. 9.
  • Runyan Avenue from North Metcalf Street to Runyan Court starting Aug. 8 to Aug. 9.
  • Northwold Street from Robb Avenue to West Murphy Street starting Aug. 9.
  • Melrose Street from Robb Avenue to West Murphy Street starting Aug. 9 to Aug. 10.
  • West Grand Avenue from Woodward Avenue to North Baxter Street starting on Aug. 9 to Aug. 10. est
  • Leland Avenue from Mackenzie Drive to Cornell Drive starting Aug. 10 to Aug. 11.
  • North Nixon Avenue from Allentown Road to West Market Street starting Aug. 10 to Aug. 11.
  • South Pierce Street from Railroad to West Spring Street starting Aug. 11. to Aug. 12.
  • North Union Street from East Pearl Street to East North Street starting Aug. 11 to Aug. 12.
  • West Market Street from South Baxter Street to South Pierce Street starting Aug. 12 to Aug. 15.
  • South Jackson Street from East North Street to East Market Street starting Aug. 12 to Aug. 15.
  • McPheron Avenue from East Elm Street to East Eureka Street starting Aug. 15 to Aug. 16.
  • East Eureka Street from South Main Street to South Pine Street starting Aug. 15 to Aug. 16.
  • Heindel Avenue/South Shore Drive from West Kibby Street to South Metcalf Street starting Aug. 16 to Aug. 17.
  • South Metcalf Street from West Vine Street to Bridge starting Aug. 17 to Aug. 18.
  • Catalpa Avenue from Hughes Avenue to St. John’s Avenue starting Aug. 18 to Aug. 19.

City of Lima Civil Engineer Ross Vennekotter says five miles of road total are to be repaved, for which Shelly Co. was awarded over $1.1 million. Shelly Co. is to maintain traffic while the project is ongoing.
