This week’s updates on the coronavirus pandemic

• Allen County Public Health will resume vaccination clinics on Monday, July 18, at its E. Market Street office. Vaccines are available by appointment only to children and adults age six months and older. Visit gettheshot.coronavirus.ohio.gov or call 419-228-4636 for assistance.

• The Lima region remains under a “medium” COVID-19 risk advisory from the Centers for Disease Control, which measures community risk by using a combination of COVID-19 case rates and hospital admissions.

The warning applies to Allen, Auglaize, Hardin, Putnam and Van Wert counties. Residents at high risk for severe illness are urged to wear a mask in public indoor settings, while all other residents are encouraged to stay up to date with their vaccinations.

• There was one death attributed to COVID-19 in Allen County in the last seven days, according to the Ohio Department of Health. No other COVID-19 deaths were recorded in the five-county region last week.

• There were 10.6 new hospital admissions for COVID-19 illness per 100,000 people reported in the Lima region in the last seven days, CDC data show. Patients with COVID-19 now account for 2% of staffed inpatient beds as of Thursday evening, a slight increase from the previous week.
