14-year-old escapes from Allen County Juvenile Detention

LIMA — A 14-year-old male resident at the Allen County Juvenile Detention Center is at large after an escape attempt by two residents of the center Monday afternoon, according to Allen County Juvenile Court.

Just after 4 p.m., the 14-year-old, along with a 17-year-old male, attempted to escape custody, with the 14-year-old successfully escaping. The escaped resident was being detained on a non-violent offense, according to the release.

The Allen County Sheriff’s Department, the Lima Police Department and the American Township Police Department conducted a search to attempted to find the escaped resident but were unsuccessful as of 9:30 p.m. Monday.

The sheriff’s department did not provide a description of the resident, saying that all questions would have to be directed Tuesday to Maj. Andre McConnahea. No other information was released Monday evening.
