The Commodores headline Lima’s 2022 Community Enrichment Dinner

LIMA — Motown legends will come to Lima in September to help support reaching across racial divides in Lima.

The Commodores will be the featured performer as part of the 2022 Community Enrichment Dinner, which begins at 5 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 21 at Veterans Memorial Civic Center, 7 Town Square, Lima.

“We’re beyond excited to bring The Commodores to Lima for the 2022 Community Enrichment Dinner,” event chairman Jerome O’Neal said in a press release. “The Commodores are true legends and have provided the soundtrack to our lives for more than 50 years. They are a perfect fit for the Community Enrichment Dinner since their music knows no racial or age boundaries but appeals to everyone.”

The Commodores have seven No. 1 singles since launching in 1968 and helped launch the career of Lionel Richie. Current members include Walter “Clyde” Orange, James Dean “JD” Nicholas and William “WAK” King. Hit songs include “Three Times a Lady,” “Brick House,” “Still,” “Sail On” and “Machine Gun.”

Tickets for the Community Enrichment Dinner include preferred seating for The Commodores’ concert. Tickets are $110, $100 and $90, depending on seating location. Tables of eight and sponsorships are also available. Tickets may be purchased online at cedlima.com or the Civic Center Box Office.

The event benefits the Walter C. Potts Entrepreneur Center, which provides education and skills to develop, support and sustain small businesses by encouraging small and minority businesses to stay, invest and participate in Lima and Allen County.

The dinner, which draws a diverse crowd of more than 700 people annually, will begin at 4 p.m. Sept. 21 with a cocktail hour, followed by a 5 p.m. presentation in the Civic Center’s exhibit hall with welcoming remarks; an update on local equity, diversity and inclusion efforts; presentation of awards and a catered dinner. Following the dinner, guests will go next door to the Crouse Performance Hall for The Commodores’ concert.
