Boys golf: Delphos St. John’s wins MAC boys golf tourney, Minster crowned overall champ

Delphos St. John’s won Saturday’s Midwest Athletic Conference boys golf tournament with a 310 total at the par 72 Mercer County Elks.

Minster, which won the overall championship, was second one shot back, followed by Coldwater (317), Fort Recovery (330), Marion Local (337), Versailles (338), St. Henry (351), Parkway (369), New Bremen (380) and New Knoxville (477)

Coldwater’s Ben Giere was medalist with a 70 followed by DSJ’s Parker Will (73), Coldwater’s Braxton Howell (74), conference player of the year Collin Feathers (75) from St. John’s, Minster’s Bryce Prenger (76) and Jack Meyer (77) and Versailles’ Gabe White (77), who all made the all-tournament of the team.

Tyce McClain (78) and Jackson Kill (84) also contributed to the Blue Jays’ winning score.

Fort Recovery’s Reece LeFevre (79), Marion Local’s Marcus Rethman and Grant Kremer (80 each), St. Henry’s Ty Post (85), Parkway’s Eli Schumm (87), New Bremen’s Bryce Voress (94) and New Knoxville’s John Gabel (103) had the low scores for their respective schools.

Joining Feathers on the all-MAC first team were Giere, Meyer, McClain, Howell, Minster’s Louis Magoto, Prenger, Will, White, Rethman, Versailles’ Brayden Wagner and Marion Local’s Grant Kremer.

Minster’s Jeremy Magoto was the coach of the year.

Making the second team were Fort Recovery’s Eli Lennartz, Marion Local’s Adam Schwieterman, Fort Recovery’s Keegan Muhlenkamp, Post, St. Henry’s Zach Rindler, LeFevre, St. Henry’s Josh Rindler and Versailles’ Carson Heitkamp.

Earning honorable mention status were Fort Recovery’s Nate Jutte and Alex Dues, Kill, Minster’s Reese Beair and Andrew Wiss, Coldwater’s Zach Diller, Parkway’s Rylan Lyons and New Bremen’s James Nelson.

Carter Johns had a goal and an assist, Malachi Menke, Alex Patrick and Nolyn Wright each had a goal, Caynan Schick had an assist and Dawson Clay made four saves to earn the shutout in goal.

Fort Jennings 2, New Knoxville 2

Fort Jennings’ Calvin Menke and Bryce Gasser and New Knoxville’s Andrew Leffel and Jay Waterman each had a goal. Fort Jennings’ Calvin Menk and New Knoxville’s Jay Schroeder and Nathanial Stammen each had an assist. Fort Jennings’ Owen Dube had seven saves and New Knoxville’s Preston Rutschilling had nine saves.

Shawnee 2 Mariemont 2

Hunter Drury and Jakob Dietering each had a goal, Adam Jimai and Noah Schied each had an assist and Drew Neidemier had five saves for Shawnee.

Miller City 4 Toledo Christian 0

Ethan Barlage had a goal and an assist, Silas Niese and CJ Lehman each had a goal, Ethan Ellerbrock had a goal and Braylon Niese had an assist as Miller City improved to 11-0 on the season.

Gabe Adcock had three goals and two assists, Alex Bowersock had two tallies, Xavier Doyle had a goal and an assist, Austin Gudakunst ha two assists, Dean Baumgartner, Leyton Staley and Cameron Emmons each had a goal and

Austin Bockrath and Gavin Evans had four goals each, Reece Berryman had three tallies and Tyler Spray, Reide Jackson,

Alex Leis had two goals and Preston Mansfield and Nick Brandeberry had one each for Ottoville (11-0).

Rilynn Jones had both goals.

Ava Ruck had the match’s goal and teammate Alyssa Michel made a save in earning the shutout in goal. Continental’s Mackenzie Niese had nine saves.

Ava Ruck had the match’s goal as the Wildcats improved to 8-1-1 on the season and 3-0-1 in the Putnam County League.

VERSAILLES — Marion Local (114) was third, Coldwater (186) was sixth, Fort Recovery (205) was eighth and St. Marys (222) was 10th behind team champ Versailles (51) in the boys competition.

Fort Recovery’s Trevor Heitkamp and Coldwater’s Mason Ayers were first and second respectively.

In the girls event, Fort Recovery (82 points), Coldwater (142) and Marion Local (148) finished third through fifth respectively behind team champ Botkins (35). St. Marys (170) was seventh.

Fort Recovery’s Natalie Brunswick (third) and Ellie Will (eighth) and Coldwater’s Audrey Alig (seventh) finished in the top 10 behind race winner Brittany Arnold from Botkins.

Yellowjacket Invitational

SIDNEY — New Knoxville’s Ariyah Pfenning finished fourth in the girls race behind first place Emily Fleming from Sidney. Hailey Hahn was 14th to lead Lima Senior.

New Knoxville’s Kaleb Putman led area runners in the boys race, finishing 17th behind first place Noah Burgh from Piqua.

Neither New Knoxville or Lima Senior had enough runners for a team score.

CEDARVILLE — The Lima Central Catholic girls finished sixth with 148 points behind team champ Akron St. Vincent-St. Mary (20).

The LCC boys finished seventh (207 points) behind team champ Georgetown (41).

The host Wildcats went 3-0.
