UNOH signs transfer in men’s basketball

The University of Northwestern Ohio men’s basketball program has announced the signing of Hunter Bode, a 6-foot-8 forward from Cincinnati.

Bode, who will be a junior next season, started his collegiate career at the University of the Cumberlands in Williamsburg, Kentucky. At the Cumberlands, he played in 60 career games in two seasons, shooting 48.2% from the field and recording 152 rebounds. While at Cumberlands, Bode was part of a program that won 45 games and qualified for back-to-back NAIA National Tournaments.

In his sophomore season Bode recorded back-to-back double-doubles against Carver and Miami-Hamilton. In the game against Miami-Hamilton, Bode recorded a career high 19 points, and in the game against Carver recorded a career high 13 rebounds.

“Adding Hunter to the UNOH family was a huge boost to our basketball program,” Racers head coach Caleb Williams said in a news release. “We are so excited that Hunter has decided to return to his home state of Ohio and join our basketball program. Upon hearing that Hunter was looking for a new school to finish his collegiate career we immediately knew he was the guy we wanted to add much needed depth to our front line. Hunter comes from a great program at the Cumberlands and his experience there will allow him to adjust quickly to our program and make an immediate impact.”

Williams continued his statement by saying, “The addition of Hunter and previously signed local high school standout Ben Westrick (from Ottawa-Glandorf) to our already strong returning cast of experienced players, we cannot be more excited for the future of the program Hunter’s athleticism and ability to finish above the rim will make Racer basketball fans jump out of their seats. We cannot wait to get him on the floor and give him the ability to showcase his complete skill set.”
