Limaland season delayed

LIMA — The COVID-19 pandemic has resulted in Limaland Motorsports Park delaying the start of its season.

“As we all know this has been a very difficult and stressful time for everyone,” University of Northwestern Ohio Vice President of Marketing & Public Relations Stephanie Malloy said in a news release. “Our hope is that our racing family and friends are staying healthy and safe.

“We are following the guidelines set by the CDC and Ohio Gov. (Mike DeWine) with regard to social distancing and the suspension of large group gatherings. Due to those restrictions, Limaland Motorsports Park Management has made the difficult decision to postpone the start of the 2020 season. Once the Ohio governor allows sporting events to resume, and provides guidelines on social distancing requirements, it could allow venues like Limaland Motorsports Park to open the 2020 race season at a later date. We will continue to monitor the situation as it changes day-by-day and will make adjustments, as needed, in the coming weeks.”

The Season Opening Shootout was scheduled for May 1. The final event of the schedule announced earlier this year is the 2020 Awards Celebration Night/King of the Quarter Mile/Pit Party on Aug. 7.
