VAN VERT — The Cougars’ Jill Gemmer has received an appointment to the United States Air Force Academy where she will be competing in track and field.
Gemmer finished second in the 2019 Division II state shot put after winning the shot in regional competition. She also won the shot and discus at districts. She was second in the shot put and third in the discus at the Western Buckeye League Championships.
Mack picks school
LIMA — Lima Senior’s Jadakis Mack has announced his commitment to play basketball for Division II Alderson Broaddus University, located in Philippi, West Virginia.
“I would like to start off by thanking my family, coaches and trainers for pushing me on and off the court,” Mack posted on Facebook. “The road to this point has been every bit of a blessing, there isn’t anything I would change.”
The Battlers are members of the Great Midwest Athletic Conference. Lima Senior had reached the Division I regional finals before the season was halted by the COVID-19 outbreak.
