Roundup: Area universities halt athletic activities

ONU events canceled

ADA — As a member of the Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC), Ohio Northern University is sharing that the Presidents Council of the Ohio Athletic Conference has voted to cancel all 2020 spring sports seasons, effective March 16 through the remainder of the academic year.

This includes all athletically related activities as defined by the NCAA. In addition, all meetings, practices and other off-season activities for other sports are also canceled.

UNOH halts activities

Presidents of Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) members have canceled all WHAC athletic activities for the remainder of the 2019-20 athletic season effective March 14.

The cancellation includes all competitions and organized practices for all 23 conference sports.

G-MAC cancels competition

The Great Midwest Athletic Conference has announced the cancellation of all spring athletic competition as well as all Great Midwest Athletic Conference Championships, effective immediately.

As well as canceling athletic competition, all Great Midwest Athletic Conference institutions will be prohibiting other team-related activity through April 6, with the option for each institution to use its own discretion following that date. To remain consistent with the university’s suspension of face-to-face classes, Findlay will prohibit all team-related activity through April 14. On that day, an update will be released as to how the Findlay athletic department will proceed.

Cosart collects victory

TUCSON, Ariz. — Bath graduate Abby Cosart got the victory Friday as Baldwin Wallace defeated Dickinson (Pa.) 9-1 as part of the Tucson Invitational Games. Cosart (1-2) allowed one run, three hits and a walk while striking out two in a five-inning outing. Baldwin Wallace finished its season shortened by the COVID-19 virus outbreak at 2-6.
