ARCHERY

Allen County Archers

The Allen County Archers, at the corner of state Route 117 and Defiance Trail, have monthly shoots planned. A traditional shoot is held the third Saturday of every month from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. For details, call Neil Wallace at 567-825-7109.

The Allen County Archers, at the corner of state Route 117 and Defiance Trail, will be holding 30 3-D shoots the first Saturday and Sunday each month through September. These are open to all.

BASEBALL

Tickets are on sale for a bus trip to the Cincinnati Reds against San Francisco on Aug. 18 to benefit the Flag City Honor. The cost is $75 and must be paid in full by July 18. Payne

The Payne (Ohio) Ball Association will be sponsoring a pair of all-star tournaments from July 6-8 in Payne (Ohio). Each team is guaranteed a minimum of three games (barring weather issues) and you may play one pool play game on Thursday, July 5, if you would prefer. A boys 8 & under coach pitch baseball tournament will be held for boys age eight or under as of Aug. 31. Also, a girls 8 & under coach-pitch softball tournament will be held for girls age eight or under as of December 31. The Kroger Crusaders Relay for Life team is having a Golf Outing on June 23 at Memorial Park Golf Course in Kenton. Registration begins at 8 am. The Walter Potts Classic fundraiser for the Bradfield Community Center will be held June 22 at Colonial Golfers Club. Registration will be from 8 a.m. until 8:50 a.m. with a shotgun start at 9 a.m. Entry is $60 for individuals and $240 for four-person teams, which includes golf, dinner, door prizes and two beverage tickets. Cost for dinner only is $15. Prizes will be awarded to the first place team, highest team score, men’s and women’s longest drives, closest to the pin, longest putt made and holes-in-one (up to four). The 75th Annual Lima Area Women’s Match Play Tournament will be contested Aug. 2-5. The starting times will stay the same with start times set for 9 a.m. Thursday and Friday, 2 p.m. Saturday, and 2:30 p.m. Sunday. This year’s golf courses include: Springbrook GC, The Oaks GC, Hidden Creek GC, and Shawnee CC. You do not need a USGA handicap to participate and we will try to fulfill pairing request for the qualifying round. The format has remained the same; 1 round of qualifying play followed by match play. Entry deadline is July 29. Women ages 55 and older may declare for the Senior division. Also, any player in the Open flight shooting a score better than a player in the Championship only flight will still be seeded in the Open flight. Players declaring Championship Only flight will be seeded in the Championship flight no matter their qualifying score. Entry forms can be found at The Oaks, Tamarac, SwingRite, Lost Creek, Springbrook, Colonial, and Shawnee currently. More places to come. The Lima YMCA will be playing host to the Tee Up for Kids golf outing at Hidden Creek Golf Course beginning at noon July 13. The fee for a team of four is $280 and will benefit YMCA Scholarship Program for kids. Individuals must register by July 9.

RUN/WALK

St. Marys

The Lake Improvement Association will host the World’s Funnest Fun Run/@alk 5K at 11 a.m. June 23, at Grand Lake St. Marys. Registrations are taken up to the morning of the event. Marimor Industries Inc. will be celebrating its 50th year anniversary and raising funds for Community Inclusion activities by hosting a 5K Run and Fun Walk at 10 a.m Saturday, June 23. Check in will begin at 9 a.m. on the day of the event. The event will start and finish at Marimor Industries Inc., located at 2450 Ada Road, Lima, and will run through the Johnny Appleseed Metro Park, which borders Marimor.
