Roundup: Kalida’s Recker throws baseball no-hitter

KALIDA — Owen Recker allowed no hits and two walks while striking out 18 in seven innings as the host Wildcats defeated Columbus Grove 1-0 in the a Putnam County League baseball game Friday night.

Kevin Hamburg had two hits and Trevor Lambert knocked in the lone run on a sacrifice fly.

Bath 2, Defiance 1

DEFIANCE — Winning pitcher Hunter Iiames allowed four hits and two walks while striking out three in 6 1/3 innings. Isaiah Bolon recorded the save by getting the final two outs. Iiames also had two hits and Bolon had a hit and an RBI.

Jeremiah Bolon and Dylan Mohr each had a double and a signal with Bolon recording an RBI.

Van Wert 11, Shawnee 3

SHAWNEE TOWNSHIP — Logan Maxwell had two hits for Shawnee.

Kenton 2, St. Marys 1

KENTON — Winning pitcher Trent Reichelderfer allowed one run, three hits and a walk while striking out six in seven innings.

Lima Senior swept

LIMA — The host Spartans fell 10-0 and 17-2 to St. Francis. Ethan Jordan had two hits and an RBI for Lima Senior.

Edwin C. Moses Relays

DAYTON — The Lima Senior girls finished second out fo 17 teams at Welcome Stadium. Thomas Worthington won the team title with 65 with the Spartans (61) and Chaminade Julienne (54) rounding out the top three.

The Lima Senior 800 (Deji’Ona Shurelds Simpson, Suerethia Henderson, Corion McDonald Gordon and Elyse Kelley) and 400 (Itayia Harris, Henderson, Kelley, McDonald Gordon) finished first. The Spartan team of McDonald Gordon, Kelley,

Henderson and Shurelds Simpson won the the 800 sprint medley with two members running 100 meters each, another running 200 meters and the final competitor running a 400. Lima Senior’s Briana Wright and Jasmine Pinn combined to finish second in the shot put. The 1,600 sprint medley team (200, 200, 400, 800) team of Ka’Niyah Stevens, Itayia Harris,

India Benton and Mersadies Denson was second.

Redskin Relays

WAPAKONETA — Marysville (106 points) won the girls team title followed by Defiance (65), Shawnee (53), Ottawa-Glandorf (52), New Haven (40), Wapakoneta (34) and St. Marys and Anna (26 each).

Marysville (80) was also first in the boys competition followed by Defiance (74), New Haven (64), Anna (58), Ottawa-Glandorf (41), Wapakoneta (40), Shawnee (31) and St. Marys (15).

Softball

Parkway 10,

Lima Central Catholic 0

LIMA — Haley Hawk hit two home runs, had four RBI and joined Lauren Henderson in throwing a no-hitter for Parkway, ranked No. 1 in Division IV by the Ohio High School Softball Coaches Association. Henderson went three innings and Hawk provided two innings of relief.

Bailey Strickler had a home run and three RBI.

Shawnee 12, Van Wert 4

VAN WERT — Winning pitcher Olivia Musser improved to 5-1. Shawnee’s Molly Bollinger and Van Wert’s Laine Spoor and Katlyn Dickson each doubled.

Perry 14,

Waynesfield-Goshen 8

PERRY TOWNSHIP — Dakota Scarberry and Kelsey Wells each had two hits and an RBI for Perry. Cassidy Craig had three its and three RBI for W-G.

Celina 14, Ottawa-Glandorf 2

GLANDORF — Kristen Dickerson had three hits and four RBI, Bailey Lanx and Maddy Kuehne each had three hits and an RBI, Taylor Turner had two hits and three RBI and Emily Keith and Maddie Leubke each had two hits and an RBI for Celina. Katelyn Yoder had two hits and Taylor Kuhlman had a hit and an RBI for O-G.

Wapakoneta 16, Elida 6

ELIDA — Grace Jolly had a double and three singles, Audrey Coil had a home run and a single, Alex Daum and Kaylee Huggins each had a double and a single and Savannah Oen had a pair of base hits for Wapak. Morgan Klett had a home run and single and Erika Suever had a double and a single for Elida.

Columbus Grove 9,

Continental 0

CONTINENTAL — Madison Nusbaum had a double and a single and Teyah Sautter had a pair of hits for Grove.

Holgate 13, Ottoville 1

OTTOVILLE — Kilee Klentz had two hits for Ottoville.

Marion Local 6, Allen East 4

MARIA STEIN — Emily Pierron doubled for Marion Local and Lakin Bashman homered for Allen East.

ARCHBOLD — Bluffton’s Justin Haggard improved to 7-0 in first singles matches and teammate Drew Wilson won a three-set match that exceeded two hours.

ELIDA — Singles players Tyler Christoff and Sebastian Kunkleman and the doubles teams of Jared Ramirez and Nathan Smith and Jacob Ramirez and Riley Creps won for Elida. Noah Kirby won his singles match for Wapak.
