ARCHERY

Allen County Archers

The Allen County Archers, at the corner of state Route 117 and Defiance Trail, have monthly shoots planned. A traditional shoot is held the third Saturday of every month from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. For details, call Neil Wallace at 567-825-7109.

Columbus Grove

The Columbus Grove Archery Club is playing host to an indoor traditional shoot Tuesday evenings through the spring. Starting times are 7 p.m. and 8 p.m. For more information call Tom Frick at 419-384-3033.

Delphos

The ninth annual Nathan Miller Memorial Baseball Tournament will be June 1-3 at the Delphos Stadium Park. The tournament is a 16-20 team tournament for boys age 11-12 years old (age cutoff is March 1). The tournament will be pool play with a three-game guarantee. Players must be from the same school district. Cost is $175. Deadline to enter is May 11. For more information contact Sam Miller at 567-825-8631.

BASKETBALL

Attica

The fourth annual Beast from the East tournament will be held March 10-11 at Seneca East in Attica. The tournament will be a three-game guarantee and school teams are welcome. Individual awards will be given to the top two teams in each grated. Proceeds from the tournament will benefit Seneca East schools. Sign up at bestbasketball.net.

Basketball instruction and Coaching at Apex Sports Zone. Coaching will be provided by our director of basketball, Jon Cook, who has over 20 years of college, high school, and youth basketball coaching. Delphos

The Delphos Jefferson boys’ basketball and baseball staffs have scheduled a third-, fourth-, fifth- and sixth-grade tournament for boys March 16 to 18 (Friday to Sunday) at Delphos Jefferson Schools. There will be separate divisions for each grade level. Each team will be guaranteed a minimum of three games. Entry fee for this event is $125. Van Wert

NWOHIO Basketball Club tryouts for seventh- and eight-grade boys will be held at at 6 p.m. March 4 at Van Wert High School and for third-, fourth-, fifth- and sixth-grade boys at 6 p.m. March 11 at Van Wert High School. Tryouts for grades ninth-, 10th- and 11th-grade boys will be at 6 p.m March 25 at Van Wert High School. Northwest Ohio Basketball Club is an AAU Summer Traveling team that travels to various NCAA sanctioned tournaments. The club has had many years of success in winning tournaments. Registration is underway for the Lima YMCA Spring Flag Football League for 6-8 years old from Feb. 19 to March 23. The fee is $25 for YMCA members and $50 for non members.

GOLF

Lima

The 2018 Lima City Golf Men’s Tournament will take place June 20-24 at courses throughout the Lima area. The tournament will open June 20 for the Senior Flights and Open Flight qualifying rounds Thursday, June 21, begins the Championship Flight with two rounds of play. The Senior Flights and Open Flights will begin match play. Final arrangements are still being made with the area courses for scheduling purposes with those details being released at a later time. HORSESHOES

The Allen County Horseshoe Pitchers, located at 1815 C Street, have openings in leagues and doubles.

PICKLEBALL

Pickleball is played at Bradfield Center from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays. All skill levels are welcome.

The Lima YMCA is holding open pickleball play from 7 p.m. until 9 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday through Friday (appointment only). Free for YMCA members and $3 per visit for nonmembers or $20 per month for non members (unlimited play). Individuals can register online at limaymca.net.

The Fifth District SB Umpires Assn is offering an OHSAA approved softball umpiring course to become an OHSAA certified softball umpire. There is a tremendous need for new softball umpires and this is an accelerated course to help new umpires to learn as quickly as possible. This course is open to adults and high school students of all ages. The prospective umpire will receive over 25 hours of instruction on the playing rules and mechanics (positions, movement, signals, related topics and handling game situations.
