Celina, Wapakoneta victorious at Pioneer Classic

LIMA — Celina captured the 2018 boys title and Wapakoneta won the girls division at the Pioneer Classic Bowling Tournament at Westgate Entertainment Center Monday.

In the boys’ division, Celina outlasted St. Henry in the finals. The Bulldogs finished first out of a field of 20 teams and 17 schools. Shawnee Team N. 1 took second place followed by St. Henry and Wapakoneta Red. St. Marys rounded out the top five.

Cole Cisco, who bowled the high series of 694, was the top bowler (231.3) with teammate Nate Langenkamp (217.7), who rolled the top game of 254, was second overall. St. Henry’s Logan Rindler (211) was third with Jon Hefner (209) of Wapakoneta White and Tyler Miller (205) of Wapakoneta Red were fourth and fifth.

Columbian’s Keygan Youts (205) placed sixth followed by Defiance’s Alex Coble (202.7), Lima Central Catholic’s Dominic Riepenhoff (201.7), Wapakoneta Red’s Josh Wahl (199) and Shawnee Team 1’s Joey Carver (198.7).

For the women, Wapakoneta (2,773) took top honors followed by Shawnee (2,734) and St. Marys (2,685). Coming in fourth was Graham (2,512) and Wauseon (2,361). A total of 14 teams competed from 13s schools.

Individually, Shawnee’s Dayle Aldrich, who had the high series, finished first with a 221 average. Teammate Allie Meeker, who had the high game of 255, was second with an average of 214. Bath’s Bryana Twining (216) was third and Wapakoneta’s Madison Doseck (209) was fourth followed by St. Marys’ Dorian Regendaz (200) was third.

Ottawa-Glandorf boys, girls ranked No. 3

COLUMBUS — The Ottawa-Glandorf boys and girls basketball teams both are ranked third in their respective divisions after the Associated Press high school polls were released Monday.

The Titan boys came in third in Division III with Midwest Athletic Conference’s Versailles came in at No. 8 and Archbold at No. 10.

In Division IV, Fort Loramie holds the top spot with Minster is ranked No. 9 and MAC rival St. Henry is No. 10. Pandora-Gilboa garnered the No. 13 spot.

The Titan girls were third in Division III. Versailles was one spot above O-G at No. 2 and Archbold garnered the No. 6 spot. Liberty-Benton came in at No. 8.

In Division IV, the Minster girls are the top ranked team and Ottoville is ranked No. 3 overall. The two teams will square off Saturday. MAC rival Ft. Recovery is No. 10.

Boys High School Basketball

Minster 74, Franklin Monroe 58

KETTERING — Minster picked up a 74-58 at the Flying to the Hoop event. Minster’s Mike Ketner led all scorers with 21 points and teammate Isaac Schmiesing added 16. Adam Knapke chipped in 11 points.

Minster improves to 7-2 on the year.

Columbus Grove 59, Spencerville

SPENCERVILLE — Columbus Grove got 15 points from Grayson Flores and 13 points from Caleb Barrientes. For Spencerville Drew Armstead scored 13 points and Ben Dues added 11.

Spencerville falls to 1-9 and Columbus Grove improves to 5-7
