Trucks featured at Waynesfield Raceway Park

WAYNESFIELD — Racing returns to Waynesfield Raceway Park this evening with Block Insurance Tough Trucks taking center stage, running for a $400 to win payday. Chris Hicks has dominated the truck class this season with four wins on the year. He currently leads the point standings by 28 over veteran driver Roy Miller.

A full program of racing will accompany the trucks including the Quest Federal Credit Union Non Wing Sprints, Performance Powder Coating AMSA Mini Sprints, Satellite Connections UMP Modifieds and the Indian Lake Outfitter Compacts. The Performance Powder Coating AMSA Mini Sprints will be running wingless tonight.

Members of the Dayton Auto Racing Fan Club will be celebrating their night at the races Saturday with half price admission. All members of the organization will receive the discount entering the grandstands by presenting their current membership card.

Adult general admission is $12. Those ages 11-15 years old are $6 with everyone under the age of 10 admitted for free. Pit access is available for $25.

Pit side gates swing open at 4 p.m., grandstands at 5 p.m. Hot laps get under way at 6 p.m. with the first green flag at 7P p.m.

Iiames gets ace

in LJGA tourney

DELPHOS — Hunter Iiames shot a hole in one and Aaron Belcher, Carson Harmon, Jack Gerker, Erin Mulcahy and Kayla Watkins won age group titles in the Dick Clark Real Estate Open Lima Junior Golf Association tournament on Thursday at the Delphos Country Club.

Belcher shot a 73 to win the Boys 16-18 division. Harmon’s 83 won the Boys 14-15 division. Gerker had a 42 to take top honors in the Boys 12-13 division.

Erin Mulcahy shot 82 to win the Girls 16-18 division and Kayla Watkins’ 54 was the low score in the Girls 15-and-under division.

Iiames got his hole in one on No. 15, a 183-yard par three.

Media pick ONU

higher than coaches

CANTON — The Ohio Northern football team was selected to finish third in the media poll and fourth in the coaches poll in the Ohio Athletic Conference at the 2017 OAC Football Media Day held at the Pro Football Hall of Fame in Canton.

ONU received 54 points in the coaches poll to finish fourth and 265 points in the media poll to finish third.

Mount Union was tabbed as the preseason favorite by both the media and coaches, collecting 26 first place media votes and seven first place votes from the coaches.

John Carroll was picked to finish second in both the media poll and the coaches poll with 74 points in the coaches poll and 327 points in the media poll. The coaches’ picks also have Heidelberg finishing ahead of ONU.
