Locos drop 2-1 encounter to Settlers

NEWARK — Host Licking County was able to keep the bats of the Central Division champion Lima Locos mostly quiet with a 2-1 Great Lakes Summer Collegiate League victory Tuesday night at Don Edwards Stadium.

The Locos’ lone run occurred in the fourth when a double by Jaxxon Fagg (Yavapai College) knocked in Will Kilgore (Georgia State) to tie the game at one. The Settlers went on to plate the winning run in the seventh.

Jackie Barrie (UNOH) and Ethan Hurt (Trevecca Nazarene) each had two hits for Lima. Locos starting pitcher Brad Croy (Bowling Green/Ottawa-Glandorf) threw seven innings, allowing two runs, six hits and two walks while striking out six.

Lima meets Licking County again at 7:05 p.m. Wednesday in Newark and then plays host to South Division leader Richmond for a pair of 7:05 p.m. games Thursday and Friday at Simmons Field.
